ANTONELLA LAZZERI in Gran Canaria
THE mother of a missing boy yesterday urged police to quiz a jailed murderer she believes holds the key to finding her lad and Madeleine McCann. Scots paedophile Charles O'Neill is thought to have been in Portugal when Maddie, three, was snatched in 2007.
Two months earlier he was in Gran Canaria, in Spain's Canary Islands, when sevenyear-old Jeremy Vargus vanished.
Jeremy's mum Ithaisa Suarez, 27, said: "I believe he might know where they are, or what happened to them.
"They are identical cases. Children who vanished in minutes, leaving no clue, no trace. He is a vile, evil man — a monster. He should speak out now."
O'Neill, 47, and his gay lover William Lauchlan were jailed for life last Thursday for murdering mum-of-three Allison McGarrigle in Largs, Ayrshire — to stop her exposing them for child abuse. The pair had both done time in the past for drugging and sexually abusing youngsters. O'Neill was targeted by private detectives working for Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry McCann — but he refused to speak to them.
Ithaisa said yesterday: "He was interviewed several times by police looking for Jeremy. I believe he may know who did it." Ithaisa is in regular contact with Kate, of Rothley, Leics. She said: "Like Kate I will never give up looking."
